Pop Unknown is an American rock band formed in 1997 in Austin, Texas, by ex-members of the band Mineral and Tim Lasater from Feed Lucy. They gained recognition for their melodic sound and emotional lyrics, releasing their debut EP Summer Season Kills in 1999, followed by their first full-length album If Arsenic Fails, Try Algebra later that same year, both on Deep Elm Records. Throughout their active years until 2002, they toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe, building a dedicated fan base across various countries.

In 2002, Pop Unknown released their second album, The August Division, through the now-defunct Sessions Records. This album marked a continuation of their melodic rock style and was well-received by fans of the genre.
